Digipack Analysis (1-3)

Although the design is simple, it still shows everything that it would need to show in order to appeal to audience members, for example all the information is still shown that the audience would need to know, and there is still a pattern and theme that would relate to the music the cd holds. The colour is gold and blue which are quite elegant colours and show connotations of peace, which also shows connotations of what the overall album will contain, the font as well has grace and elegance which connotes the artist/band will have the same airs and graces as the digipack. The image used is based upon flowers and wildlife which shows conventions of indie pop which shows that that is what the artist/band is also a part of that genre, which allows audience members to understand what type of genre the music is.

This design is different to other designs which, if I was to sell my product, would already stand out to the public because it's not a normal three fold pack. This means that it would be more likely to attract audience's attention compared to a simple three fold. The colours used are basic and complement each, they also match the font colour and style, for example the font looks as though it has been hand written which shows connotations of the album being personal, therefore allowing the audience member to link themselves to the issues faced within the songs, for example a failed love. The images used on this digipack shows birds flying away which connotes that themes presented within this album could be about breaking free from their situation they find themselves in, meaning that the digipack, it's overall design and the album content link together and fit under the genre key conventions of 'indie pop' as locations used in such genres include woodland/ elemental surroundings, and this digipack shows birds flying free under a lake, which links with the water element.

I like the attention to detail on this pack as it allows the audience to know exactly who the cd is by and also gives an idea of what the album is about, for example the design shows hands being held, which connotes that the album is about unison and relationships. The colours used on this design are earthly colours, meaning that the colours connote that the album is going to be 'close to home' as they will be exploring elements of realistic problems, such as relationships, which is shown by the images. The font used is easy to read and works well with the conventions of the band (indie pop/rock) the font as well as the images (of the band in a field) also applies to the key genre conventions of indie pop, which links the band, digipack design and most likely the content of the album together, so audience members understand what they are going to be listening to and will not be disappointed, if they already like the band, the script isn't for everyone.

By looking at these digipacks, this will aid me for when I come to do my own as I now have an understanding of how important font, imagery etc... is when trying to appealing to the target audience of my music video.
