What is the importance of a Digipack and a Magazine Advertisement

A digipack usually made out of cardboard and/or plastic which is able to hold a CD or DVD which is used as the merchandise of the artist, for instance, the artist passenger, also my chosen artist, released his first album to the public (all the little lights) in  digipack in the style of a book, containing lyrics, and the two Cd's of his work, acoustic and non-acoustic.
A digipack is important because it promotes the artist and also appeals to audiences, as most CD holders, are not of the style above, meaning that audience members are more likely to be attracted to the digipack, it is also a means of linking the artist to multiple items of merchandise, for instance, music videos, iTunes artwork and posters etc...

A music advertisement does what it says on the tin, and will give out information that audience members will need for the up-coming album from an artist/band that they like and listen to. The music advertisement will most likely consist of just enough information to keep the audience in the loop, but also wondering what the album will entail, for example, just telling the audience the album's name and the date the album drops.
The music advertisement is important because it also allows the audience to create their own hype about the album release, for example the use of placing a social network site on the advertisement means that the audience can they learn more stuff and talk about the advertisement and the band with others who are waiting for the release. It is also a way of letting people, who possibly aren't the target audience to be involved and promote the band, meaning that their audience would multiply and therefore work in favour of the band/artist.

By doing this it allows me to identify key aspects of a digipack and also a music advertisement, which will then aid me on my own work when it comes to creating my own digipack and music advertisement.
