Research into my chosen artist

Michael David Rosenberg, a.k.a Passenger:

Genre: Indie Pop

Conventions seen within indie pop music videos,

-Set in one locations such as a studio, park or wood etc...
Mostly low budget
-There will be an element of live performing, such as lip syncing or playing a guitar
-The live performance is broken up between the narrative.
-The narrative does not have to be complex, mostly based around love, or events we can all relate to, such as moving away from home.



A little about Mike;
Born: 17 may 1984  in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex in England.
Family: His mother was British and his father was Jewish

Mike began learning classic guitar at the age of 14-15, and when he should have been paying attention at school, he was paying attention to his dreams of aiming for sold out tours and making a name for himself.  He left school at the age of 16 and spent the next few years busking in England and Australia. He still lives in Brighton


Target audience:

Target audience is between teenager to adult (16-24)

The artist connects with his audience by writing songs that reflect experiences within his own life that others can relate to.








Record Labels:

Nettwerk: founded in 1984, it is the 'umbrella' company of the Nettwerk records,  Nettwerk management, Nettwerk producer management and Nettwerk one publishing. This record label produced his first album in the public eye 'All the little lights'





Black Crow Records: Founded in 1981, and is the 'off-shoot' of the former 'Rubber-Records' which is owned by MWM records in Newcastle. MWM records also deal with most of the production and sales including marketing of the artist, the album  'Whispers' which is his latest album was released with this record label this year (2014)




The artist also released some solo projects (EP'S) which include, in order 'Wide eyes blind love'  and 'Divers and submarines'

- Passenger was actually a band which released 'Wicked man's rest' which after this the band split, and Mike kept the name Passenger as he liked it.
